Sardis Chamber of Commerce and the Mississippi Delta Street Rodders host an annual AprilFest and Open Car Show on Main Street each April. A 5K Walk/Run benefitting the Heflin House Museum of Sardis is held each year. Food vendors and crafters are organized by the Sardis Chamber of Commerce (662.487.3451 or 662.609.2159). SpringFest is an annual two day festival on the Downtown Square in Batesville featuring great music, good food and lots of fun. A wide variety of events and entertainment are offered to our festival goers. Live radio remotes with prize giveaways and amusement rides and games are all part of the fun. Throughout the two-day festival national, regional and local entertainment is featured. Admission to the festival area is free. There is also a 5K held the Saturday morning each year of SpringFest. The St. Jude Bass Classic is an annual pick your partner fishing tournament held at the Sardis Lake on Memorial Day weekend. The tournament is limited to 350 boats and benefits St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. For more information, visit www.stjudefishing.com.
This event annually each fall for our members. The morning consists of a brief coffee time before a series of informative sessions for our members and guests at the Batesville Civic Center. The format is open so the audience is invited to ask questions and have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with the panel during the breaks. For the afternoon we have two recreational events: a golf scramble at Panola Country Club or a Skeet Shoot at the ONS Sporting Clays in Como. Whether you choose to participate in any of the above activities or not, a casual reception is held that evening from 5:30-7:30 p.m at Panola Country Club. This annual event is held on the first Saturday in October in Downtown Batesville. Showoff on the Square is a one-day event organized by the Batesville Main Street Program volunteers and office staff that features an open car show, food vendors, and a children’s area. The car show is open to all makes & models of car, truck or motorcycle. Registration is available prior to the event or the morning of the event. Judging is held during the afternoon followed by a trophy presentation. For the public to enjoy, there is live entertainment, great food and door prizes.
The Holiday Open House is held the Sunday before Thanksgiving each year from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. City-wide merchants open their doors for customers to begin their holiday shopping. Additional activities include live entertainment, carriage rides, and various childrens' activities in Santa's Workshop. Local/regional musicians perform at the Downtown Memorial Park (Amphitheater). There is no charge for the public. Carriage ride tickets are sold for a minimal fee to benefit Batesville Main Street projects. Free activities for children include volunteers helping with Letters to Santa and ornament decorating for the town Christmas tree.
